Half day seminars

Well run organisations have a series of policies and procedures covering a range of subjects such as discipline and grievance handling, recruitment and their employees’ use of the internet. These are designed to meet any legal requirements and to provide a framework for managers so that they behave consistently when confronted with similar issues.

Intensive half day seminars are an effective and efficient way of ensuring that all managers understand their responsibilities and know how to put these into practice. They are also an excellent method for identifying and tackling any practical difficulties in implementing policies and procedures.

Typical half day seminars, with details

Managing attendance

Those taking part discuss the implications of poor attendance for the business; review the policy and procedures for managing attendance and their responsibilities for putting these into practice; learn how to improve attendance by carrying out effective return to work interviews.

Data protection

Those taking part review, in broad terms, the contents of the Data Protection Act 1998; identify the responsibilities of those involved in the use of personal data; relate the eight principles of good information handling to their own working circumstances.

Other half day seminars include:

·

Performance review. A summary of the organisation’s performance review process; managers’ responsibilities for operating it; how to prepare, structure, manage and control an effective performance review discussion.

·

Creative thinking. A three stage model for putting ideas into action; techniques for applying the model; common, sometimes self-imposed barriers to creative thinking.
